Amsterdam Island Kava in Paris, France

Our Story

Amsterdam Island Kava is proud to be the first Pasifika and Dutch – owned kava company in the European Union. Our co-founder Ateni comes from a long line of kava drinkers in the Kingdom of Tonga, where this sacred root has been used for centuries in ceremonies, healing, and daily life. For Ateni and his family, kava is more than a beverage – it’s culture, connection,
and tradition.

Rijntje, originally from Best, a small village in the south of the Netherlands, was introduced to kava six years ago.

“It has been an incredible journey of discovery, and kava has become a grounding part of my daily routine ever since,” she says.
