How to Prepare Kava – Step-by-Step

1. Measure Your Kava.
Start with 35g (just under half a cup) of traditional grind Noble Kava powder. You can explore our range of premium Kava in our shop.

For the smoothest brew, we recommend using a fine, food – grade strainer – like the nut milk – style bags available in shop. While traditional options (like cheese cloth or nylon stockings) can work, they often leave too much sediment or aren't food safe. Add the Kava powder into the strainer bag and tightly close the strainer bag,

3. Add Water
Grab a large bowl or traditional Pacific Tanoa and slowly poor the 600ml (about 2 cups) of cold or lukewarm water over the strainer bag with Kava. A general guide is 15ml of water per 1g of Kava, but you can adjust based on your taste or desired strength.

4. Squeeze! 

Knead the Kava well under water for between 5-10 min.

5. Enjoy!
Kava is best served in small cups or “shells” and enjoyed in one or two smooth gulps. After drinking, it’s common to follow with a chaser such as water, juice, sparkling drink, or a small bite of fruit to cleanse the palate.

*Optional: Second Sqeeze
After squeezing out your first batch, add another cup (300ml) of room temperature water to the same Kava – filled strainer. This “second wash” will be milder but still effective. You can enjoy it separately or blend it back into your first brew.
